double primer pockets .308?

Are you talking about Berdan primed brass, where when looking in the mouth of the case you see two small holes? Boxer (reloadable brass) has one hole centered in the base of the case. I have seen where some folks have reloaded Berdan primed cases but I don't know how or why.

Somebody will come along and answer that for you.

Often the Berdan primed cases on newer manufactured ammo indicates it isn't intended/desireable to reload them. While I'm not aware of any aluminum cases used for .308, there are many that are steel cased and steel tends to fatigue too quickly for reloading for multiple uses... this has been my experience, YMMV.

There are several ways to deprime berdan cases. First of all, there's a "can opener" device that allows you to pierce the primer and lever it out. Or you can fill the case with water, put it over a firm surface with a hole to allow the primer to come out, insert a close-fitting dowel in the case neck and whack it with a hammer -- hydraulic pressure does the job.

Finally, there is a berdan decapper that has an offset decapping pin. You carefully rotate the case until you feel the pin enter a flash hole, and decap as normal.

You know of course, that berdan primers are not the same diameter as boxer primers? You can re-prime only with genuine berdan primers.

As bad as the price of brass is getting, it hasn't got bad enough yet to reload Berdan primed .308.

Throw it away, or sell it to a recycler!

The only time it's worth the trouble is with wierd calibers you can't get Boxer primed brass for.
