I found Bud's Gun shop has these for under $900 NIB. I have an older Colt 223 AR and always wanted a larger caliber for personal defense. I don't have the means for an upscale 308 AR. One can get once fired brass in 308 so ammo shouldn't be a problem.
Supreme accuracy is not the goal, it just needs to be reliable and reasonably accurate.

Anyone have the DPMS 308 Sportical that can share their experience?

Thanks, Sommerled

I don't have the Sportical but I do have the related LR-308B. It's a pretty good gun. The .308s are nicer in most ways than DPMS-made .223 ARs. However, they are definitely not "mil-spec" or "stake your life on it" type guns; they are more like good hunting guns. With realistic expectations you shouldn't be disappointed.

If you want accuracy, I would skip the Sportical with its conventional handguards and instead get the 308B or 308T (16" medium barrel) models, which are both free-floated designs. My 308B is shooting just over MOA (3-5 shot groups, not the more rigorous 10-shot groups) with inexpensive FMJ ammo and a 4x scope. Many people get sub-MOA from the various free float models.

BTW, check out R Guns for good prices also:
