Dropped Holsters While Hiking?

No, not the SWAT megatactical Safariland 6004 type thigh holsters, but the slightly dropped belt holsters for competition, do those work well when hiking and carrying concealed? Normal belt carry and IWB gets in the way of the waiststraps so I'm hoping a slightly dropped holster will take care of this problem.

Any thoughts, experiences, and so forth?

Bianchi, Hunter, and others make holsters like you're looking for. I'm familiar with the revolver ones and they all seem to work well. I like Hunter's 1100 series because you can remove them without undoing your belt.
