Did anyone attend the Ducks Unlimited outdoor festival this past weekend? I went on Saturday, had a really good time.
Best part, firearm testing. Everyone was there, Springfield Armory, Armalite, HK, Beretta, Browning, etc. Cost was $5, which got you 5 rifle rounds, or 10 pistol rounds.
I spent most of my time in the Springfield booth. I shot an M1A and I had to try an XD-40. I was very impressed with both. Downsides? Now I WANT an M1A! The XD was very easy to pick up for the first time and hit with.
I wanted to talk to the reps more, but they were busy and it was hard to hear with all of the shooting.
Armalite - I shot an AR-10 flattop with a very slick Trijicon ACOG mounted on it. Very nice rifle. Very accurate.
Browning - Tried an A-bolt in .223 WSSM. Very hot little cartridge! I swear you could see the clay target shatter before you heard the rifle report!
Only a few disappointments:
Beretta did NOT have a CX4 Storm to try out.
HK had just about every flavor of USP, but none of their uber-tactical, ultra-expensive rifles to try.
All in all, I had a great time and got to shoot a bunch of nice guns without having to buy them first!
