Did anyone attend the Ducks Unlimited outdoor festival this past weekend? I went on Saturday, had a really good time.

Best part, firearm testing. Everyone was there, Springfield Armory, Armalite, HK, Beretta, Browning, etc. Cost was $5, which got you 5 rifle rounds, or 10 pistol rounds.

I spent most of my time in the Springfield booth. I shot an M1A and I had to try an XD-40. I was very impressed with both. Downsides? Now I WANT an M1A! The XD was very easy to pick up for the first time and hit with.
I wanted to talk to the reps more, but they were busy and it was hard to hear with all of the shooting. :D

Armalite - I shot an AR-10 flattop with a very slick Trijicon ACOG mounted on it. Very nice rifle. Very accurate.

Browning - Tried an A-bolt in .223 WSSM. Very hot little cartridge! I swear you could see the clay target shatter before you heard the rifle report!

Only a few disappointments:

Beretta did NOT have a CX4 Storm to try out. :(

HK had just about every flavor of USP, but none of their uber-tactical, ultra-expensive rifles to try.

All in all, I had a great time and got to shoot a bunch of nice guns without having to buy them first! :D

So you had to pay 5 bucks for every ten pistol shots or 5 bucks total to get 10 shots from each company represented?

It was $5 per ticket. One ticket per gun. Sorry I should've explained better. It sounds kind of expensive, but it was worth it. I'm definitely going again next year.

Quantrill,

That's exactly where the DU festival was, on the EAA grounds. We spent a good part of the day there, and still didn't see everything. A very big event.
