Dumb Mauser question

Recently someone gave me a very nice sporter stock that came off of a sporteized K98.
I have an old Yugo M48 mauser that is fairly beat up on the stock. I have been thinking about using the YUGO for a sporter project using the recently acquired stock, but I'm not sure if these rifles would be able to interchange stocks from a K98 to a M48.
Does anyone know what models of mausers would fit the same stock as a
K98?
I hear about "large ring and small ring" mausers.
Which ones are small ring and which are large?

Your bigger problem is the M48 is an intermediate length action, though as I recall the action screws are the same distance as a '98 in some- it might just be the 1903 Turkish, though. Ring diameter has to do with barrels.

I don't recall the exact measurement to thousanths, but a small ring is a little over 1.3" in dia at the reciever and the large ring is a bit more than 1.4". No help on the stock.allthebest

Ask the gun -- takle the M48 out of the stock and see what you would have to do to fit it into the '98 stock.

The M-48 Yugoslavian Mauser is a large Ring, intermediate length action.

1.410 diameter. receiver ring, 8.50 in length, with screw spacing of 7.620
Intermediate Large ring have a threaded shank diameter of 1.10 in. With 12 threads per inch.
Mexican Mauser made by FN , the M24, M47, M48 by FN and Yugoslavia. It WILL NOT fit a Standard 98 Mauser stocks and standard bolts will not interchange..

The Standard Large Ring M-98 Mauser
1.410 diameter receiver ring, 8.750 in length, with screw spacing of 7.835. Barrel Shank of 1.100
Large ring have a threaded shank diameter of 1.10 in. With 12 threads per inch.
Including M-98's from WWI and WW2, GEW-98,M-98k, CZ-24, Czech VZ-24, Spanish M-43/44 . Chilean M1912, Steyr Brazilian M1908/34, Brno 98/22, 98/29, DWM / Argentine. M1909, M24/30 Venezuelan, FN M1935 Peruvian, FN Standard Model, Mauser Oberndorf.

Go with a Boyds stock, they are great. If you have a M48/A/B then it will not fit a standard 98 stock. If you have a M48BO then it might since I think those were rebuilt off of captured German K98s with a full length action.

Here's my M48 in a Boyds stock, with handloads shooting off the bipod in the prone it shoots MOA or better. Forgive the metal finish, I still haven't decided between trying to duracoat it myself or have my gunsmith parkerize it.
