There is a vendor on eBay selling a small variety of chambered barrel liners for roughly 1/3 of what you would pay at Brownells or similar. The liners are not branded, and so far I have only seen 22 in s, Lr, and mag and 45 in acp, Colt, and 410/45colt. All are roughly $21 shipped and are pistol length.

With the projects I have in mind, I’m considering buying one, but I am not in any way comfortable that this is a good product. Has anybody here used them?

I’m on the fence of going this route or buying a rifle barrel and chunking it to get multiple barrels out of a single tube. I really don’t want to try button rifling with a ground down piece of hardened tool steel...yet.

If Chaszel is the seller, I've used them.

The .22 cals are good to go. The .38/9mm are sometimes a little large on bore for .355" 9mm projectiles, but work well with .357-.358" jacketed & cast bullets. Likewise, the .45 cal barrels I've used had OK accuracy with .451" & .452" jacketed bullets, but cast .451-.452" bullets tumbled, so would need to go .454"-.455" with lead.

Unless he changed something, they're 1026 steel, which is a mild alloy. The .22 barrels are fine as stand-alone, but larger calibers should be installed in some type of trunnion for the chamber end, especially to use hotter loads.

Both of my folding pack rifles, my ultralight bolt action take down, my double barrel .45-.410 pistol, my scrap metal .22 and the single shot .357 I gave to my sister have his liners. I also have one of his heavy 21" .45/.410 barrels sitting in the other room, haven't been properly inspired to build it into a firearm yet. And another .38 spl. chambered six incher, which I'm gonna cut & ream for .38 S&W and make an integrally suppressed single shot. That should be stupid quiet with 145 gr. bullets at 600-700 FPS.
