I have an EGW Picatinny one piece base for my rifle. I've had it a while and was going to use a spare set of Leupold Rings I had laying around that I can no longer find. I went over to Cabela's and grabbed a set of basic Weaver Grand Slam rings. They attach to the rail tightly, however, they're crooked. The side with the screw on it is visibly higher than the opposite side. The ring also doesn't have a lot of purchase on that side of the rail. I thought Picatinny and Weaver were interchangeable. Apparently not.

So now what? Buy EGW branded rings? ($70 and wait to have them shipped.) What's another set of rings that will work well with this base? (Or is EGW just a proprietary kind of product and everything must match?) Or maybe I just buy a Weaver branded base. IDK.

I currently have EGW's one-piece base with built in rings on the rifle now (I don't even know how or when I got on this brand) and it has been solid as a rock with no problems other than there is no way to shift the scope fore and aft to adjust eye relief.

ETA: I just realized. I have an older, pre accutrigger, flat back, long action Savage 110. Good luck finding bases to fit that. This is what happens when I don't plan.

I used a set of Warne QD rings on a EGW base with zero issues.

They're not cheap nor are they light weight, but they are good rings and they work on my EGW rail when I had it on my 700.

Picture of the problem rings would be nice, forget if the wedge can be Accidentally flipped on the wgs rings. There good rings but heavy and if over tightened I've had the wedge crack, probably because there centered metal. Weaver should replace them if something is wrong.

They can't be flipped. At first I thought that was the case, but the screw holes are off center top to bottom, so if you flip it, the holes don't line up.

Ive had grandslams on an egw rail before, worked fine.
Usually the issue is trying to put pic rings on a weaver rail/base.

There might be an issue with your set of rings or rail, rare tho they are it isnt unheard of.
