i am looking for an electronic safe to mount on a piece of sheet metal to the underside of my my bed (no my wife doesnt know i am mounting anything...yet). i was looking at the gunvault, the one with four "finger" keys. can this be mounted upside down.(i want to mount it with the keypad tward the floor)

any other safe suggestions?
no kids if it matters

Is this the safe you'll be storing your go to gun in case someone breaks in? If so I wouldn't go electronic. I would go with a safe with a Simplex mechanical lock like a V-Line safe. They have a drawer type that would probably do the trick for you.

I keep my go to guns (one on my wifes side of the bed and one on mine) in V-Line pistol boxes. The rest of my guns are in a safe with an electronic lock.

I have a Deluxe GunVault - with an AC cord and the usual batteries. I keep mine on the floor under my bed, with the security cable running around the bed frame.

As long as you make sure to keep the batteries fresh - it's a good safe. But it is a bit of a hassle accessing the battery case, and it would probably be very hard to do if it is mounted upside down...

I wouldn't trust an electronic lock box to store my "go to" guns.

I've used lock boxes with mechanical Simplex locks for years. I've never had a problem with these locks.

I have the a GunVault (batteries). The way it works, the door drops open, so I'm not sure about upside down. It works fine mounted vertically. The circuitry is in a box that protrudes into the interior, on the top, so an upside down mount could put it in the way of a gun.

It has a mechanical key backup, and a battery contact backup (touch it with a 9V). I'm not too worried about the electronics failing; I just keep an eye on the battery level. An LED flashes if it's low. Electronics are as reliable as mechanics, these days, particularly if you test the thing often.

It's a neat little box.

On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with a proven mechanical lock. Nothing at all.
