I emailed the Senator concerning the upcoming death of the AWB, and thanked him for his work so far, got this email from him today.
Looks like a form letter type reply, since he didn't address the expiration of the AWB.

Anyway, here 'tis:

Dear Friend:

Thank you for contacting me to express your thoughts on the semi-automatic
assault weapon ban. It is an honor to serve you in the Senate and a
privilege to respond to your concerns.

Gun control is a controversial issue. People acting in good faith will
very often disagree on the most effective way to address violent crime
while recognizing the rights of law abiding gun owners, and I respect the
diversity of views on this important matter.

I have long believed that further federal regulation of gun ownership is
not the best answer to preventing violent crime, and I am a strong
supporter of the Second Amendment. Our enemy is the criminal, not the
weapon. A person intent on committing a violent crime will not be stopped
by more gun control laws. Instead, Congress and the States should work to
ensure that violent crimes are vigorously prosecuted, to keep guns out of
the hands of criminals and to better enforce our existing laws. Through
this common sense approach, we can continue to reduce violent crime across
the nation and protect the rights of law abiding gun owners.

Again, thank you for contacting me. As the Senate continues to face many
complex and challenging issues, I hope you will continue to give me the
benefit of your thoughts and advice.

Sincerely,
William H. Frist, M.D.
Majority Leader
United States Senate

I sent him an e-mail via the GOA web site. No response as of yet.

Frist's form letter is a bit milquetoasty, yes?

Rick

It reads just a little better then a receipt for goods received.

...by the way...that's still more then the response I got from my printed letters. I sent individual letters to Dennis Hastart, Bill Frist, Karl Rove, and Tom Delay 2 1/2 months ago. My letters were firm and to the point, yet not impolite. But as of yet I have received no reply. (but neither did I ask for a reply.) No Biggie. I'm sure I made my point of not to renew the AWB which was the objective of sending the notes, and not making pen pals .

As y'all might recall...

Frist used parliamentary procedures he had never wielded before FOR ANYONE a few weeks back to keep DiFi off the floor, and her pet project out of the lawsuit reform bill.

Yes, his reply is indeed milqutoast, but his actions in this case speak louder than his mass mail.

every piece of mail they (repubs) send me asking for money is sent back with a note that they won't be getting a 'dime' until the awb is allowed to lapse.

If you're on their fundraising lists, I urge you to do the same.

I wrote to Sen. Allen of VA in March when they were voting on the lawsuit bill for gun manufacturers. On the subject of the AWB, Allen ran and won on supporting it.

But he wrote to me that he had changed his mind and was now opposing it. He said the AWB had been proven to be ineffective and meaningless in stopping crime. Therefore, it should be repealed.

It's a rare politician who will stand up and support the repeal of gun laws. In my view, a pol who does this has integrity. There's nothing easier than voting for gun control. It just SOUNDS so good to the sheep who don't actually look at facts. Voting against it takes courage. Allen will get a check from me when he's up for reelection.
