Encore for multiple calibers?

Looking through various firearm manufacturers' catalogs, it appears that there are a lot of calibers that I'd like to try. I was thinking that it might be worthwhile to get an Encore so that I could just get the extra barrels rather than a new rifle for every caliber.

Right now, I'm thinking 22 LR (if they have it), 270, 30-30, and possibly a 444.

Comments and suggestions?

How accurate are the Encores?

Edited to add 30/06 and take off the 444. Make that 45/70 instead.

Can't comment on the multiple calibers, but I have an Encore in .243 that is quite accurate, both in its rifle and pistol configuration. About 1 MOA from a bench with the rifle using factory ammo, about double that with the pistol. The pistol (15" barrel) is probably more accurate than I am, but that's all I've been able to do with it.

The Encore is definitely on my list of purchases. I've always wanted one since I got rid of my Contender. As I understand it they have even upgraded the Contender line to a beefier frame and the ability to decock the weapon without having to "shotgun" it to reset.

As for accuracy, if they are anything like the Contenders the accuracy should be excellent. I enjoyed 3" groups out of a 10" 44 Magnum I used to own. That's with factory ammo at 100 yards.

Anything "switch barrel" & scoped will require a mounted scope for each & every barrel.

Might be a consideration, might not.

I've a Contender in a manly caliber & never did get the "buy more barrels now!" bug. It did exactly what I wanted it to do (after very lengthy research) & I was all set.

I did buy another "play barrel" afterwards. See? I'm a liar.

But I did hold it to that & won't get "the others." .... for now. About 10 years, so I'm fairly safe.

TCs/Encores are a real wonder. Very accurate & switchable from one to another if that's your thing. I think they fill a very cool niche.

I'd think best bet is the trigger is same from gun to gun.

Another is the relatively low cost from one caliber to another.

$1000 & you could have a match .22LR, a ,243 & a .30-06 - covers the bases quite well enough indeedy.
