The family visited the nice private club today. Her father had been my coworker in '83-84. No sprinkles or rain so we went to an Action Pistol range.

Even the old friend and his son had only been shooting a few times, years ago.
His kids are about age 24, 26. The 24 year-old daughter did really well with her stance and grip; she experienced Zero stovepipes etc, in my CZ 'PCR' (9mm) and Walther P99 (9mm).

She did aim really low with the iron sights of the VZ-58 (7.62x39) but enjoyed it. This was her first rifle, as well, and I twice reminded her to try leaning a bit forward, instread of standing straight. Her thick, down jacket makes it hard to see buttstock contact on a shoulder.
* If she had seemed intimidated (was not the case), she would not have volunteered to try it-and nobody would have pressured her.

Hitting metal plates (...handgun only...) and then using the VZ for plastic jugs on the berm made it more fun. The VZ's low, normal muzzle rise Combined with my CSA muzzle brake helped a good bit.
