I purchased a very small .22 cal. single action revolver by a gun maker named Erl Svendsen. The pistol is in excellent condition and has ivory grips with brass under frame. I don't use this pistol because it is very nice and is such a unique little firearm. I have read several articles on the thread called Who knows about Erl Svendsen guns?" which was posted on November 6, 2006.

On February 9th, 2009: A member by the name of Fleetugsailor wrote that he owned a Model 1 .22LR Svendsen. He also said that the the serial # started with the letters CS which meant cased set. I am not sure what cased set means? My other question is I would like to know what kind of value does this type of pistol have with ivory grips and in very good condition. I would also like to know if anyone knows how many of the Model 1 single action pistols were produced? I would truly appreciate any information about this firearm.

I am sorry that I have no useful information for you, but I think I speak for everyone when I say that I would love to see a picture of it! :D

It sounds beautiful.

I can't answer any of your other questions, but I can tell you that "cased set" most likely means the revolver was one of a pair that was sold together in a presentation case.

If that's real ivory, you should occasionally rub some clove oil into it; otherwise it tends to shrink and crack over time.

If I can get a picture of my Svendsen Model 1, I will provide it. I am a new member and I am still learning how to navigate through this system.
Thank you very much for the reply.
Daniel,

I did not know that you had to apply some oil on ivory to prevent it from cracking!
Thank you very much for that information.
Daniel,

Thank you for the reply, I sort of figured that cased set might have meant having 2 firearms in box. I just wanted to make sure. Thank you again,
Daniel,

Here is an advertisement from the February 1974 issue of Shooting Times for the ESFAC three gun cased set.

The advertisement indicates that three pistols make a cased set and two pistols make a cased pair. The serial number of the pictured Four Aces derringer begins with "CS".

Thank you for information. The grips on this Model 1 .22cal are genuine ivory! The serial number does start with "CS". I just would like to know how many of these single action pistols were made?

Erl Svendsen Model 1 single action revolver .22 LR

This little single action revolver has genuine ivory grips. These grips may have been installed after the pistol was manufactured. I don't believe that the pistol came with ivory grips. Someone took the time to buy ivory grips for it. The serial number is # CS 146.
I still would like to know more information on the this little beauty.
