European once fired brass

I ordered 2k of once fired indoor range brass, mixed head stamp. I looked at some and while some were federal, winchester, speer, etc, by far the bulk were made in Europe,

I am curious the headstamps for made in Europe would be surplus milatary brass. I have never seen surplus 9 mm for sale or new 9 mm imported from Europe.

My question is wheather or not the brass without familar headstamps, for made in USA are any worse that USA made?

Europe is comprised of many different countries. What headstamps are you concerned about? Quality varies from one manufacturer to the next, the same as any other place, so it will depend on which one the cases came from.

Check every one for Berdan primers before you break a depriming pin!

And like Fred said, nobody can even guess at the quality without knowing what the headstamps are.

good response. I should have asked how to I find out what are better brands of European Ammo? I will google and see what i can find
 
GECO is usable
Lapua all I've ever seen has been berdan primed
S&B is usable. Primer seating is a little bitchy sometimes

That's all I've got for European stuff. Usually the commercial American stuff predominates, so I just through away the stuff I don't recognize just to be safe. No point in chancing it when we're talking about throwing away 1 out of 10 cases.
 
PMC seems good, as sort thru the mess i purchased i will google and see if i can tie to something familar. Much I am afraid may be Eastern Europe old military stuff, that, i agree, toss it .

After i get finished i will post. Should be a few weeks.

Well, it can't be very old eastern European stuff.

They all used AK-47's in 7.62x39 & AK-74's in 5.45x39 before the fall of the USSR.
And most of them still do if they still have anything to do with Russia.

If it's 5.56mm caliber, it would have to be NATO surplus or commercial ammo made for export to the U.S..

Well, in that case, Eastern Euro pistols in use would have been 7.62x38 Nagant, 7.62x25 Tokarev, or 9x18 Makarov.

None of the com-block countrys used 9mm Luger until very recently.

GECO is much tougher than any other brass brand I´ve ever seen. I´ve got only one thousand or so of them and I love them. It makes the handle of my press harder to use though.

I´d say no to S&B bacause of the primer pocket issues and the same to those cheap commie rounds.
The rest that come to my mind (Fiochi, Lapua...) are very similar to Remington and Winchester and very good in quality. IMHO.
 
I sorted out about 50 of the old fashion primer, and another 25 or so that that were in bad shape. Another hundred or so with so few that i put in my someday box, Speer, starline, CCI

listed by quuainty in the following order. with the most being the first.
PPU Prvi Partizan, 31000 Titovo, Uzice, Yugoslavia
PMC Eldorado Cartridge Corporation (previously Patton and Morgan Corp., and Pan Metal Corp. ) PO Box 62508, Boulder City, NV 89006. The PMC headstamped ammunition for ECC has been made in Korea, the Philippines, Mexico and the Repuclic of South Africa.

WW ior Win Winchester
GFL Giulio Fiocchi, Lecco, Italy
FC Departmento de la Industrial Militar, Mexico City, Mexico 1
FC Federal Cartridge Corp., Anoka, MN 55303 (also produced in Germany and Austria for Federal) 1
FC Prvi Partizan, Titovo, Uzice 31000, Yugoslavia
RP Remington Peters
Blazer Blazer , appears to be brass. about 100

there are others such as Speer, CBC , S&B, CCI and a few others that had less that five after I sorted by head stamp.

The best looking brass was GFL. Itialian made.

I purchased these from online Gunbroker.com, here in TX , will not be a returning customer.
 
Prvi partizan is really good I used there ammon in Croatia and it is much higher quality then Russian block or older italian or eastern German stuff.
 
Randy yes you are correct, about WW. I lumped them alltogether , if hinted of winchester.
 
frogo. thanks i did not know that i have some cci and blazer. less than 50 cci and less than 100 blazer. .
 
anything i pick up with Cyrllic i trash, but the very few i found are good looking brass. The most beat up brass i puchased as once fired was RP, looked wore out to me. After i tumble clean i will reinspect and decide what to do. Head stamps were hard to read. Could have been dirt.

I found the Fiocchi cases quite reasonable quality, as well the German made Geco.

The Lapua cases I have are 38spl boxer primed and seem to be of good quality.

nny 'Cryllic stamped' Privy with boxer primed cases is also usable.
 
Oh, sorry my fvck up.

I though the OP was inquiring about european pistol brass quality in general, although there was mention of 9mm.

My comments only refer to 38spl, .357mag, 40s&w and 9mm european brass that I've come across.

Sorry if I didn't contribute anything to the thread.
