Years ago, Guns & Ammo Magazine had a monthly column entitled "Armed Response" where readers sent in stories of near-misses with the criminal element. For some reason no one was ever shot, police were never involved, the local media never reported these incidents, and the thugs always backed down when our protaganist produced his weapon in these stories.
It's been many years since I've seen a Guns & Ammo magazine. Do they still run this column?
In years gone by, have any of you ever sent in an "Armed Response" story to G&A? If so, could you tell us what editorial procedures the magazine required of you in order to print your contribution?
Since all of these stories always seemed pretty much identical to me, I was always suspicious as to their source.

I remember it back when I read G&A a lot. Kind of like the American Rifleman's "Armed Citizen" column.

Lots of happy outcomes, lots of little old ladies able to retrieve their late husband's single-shot .22 from the closet and scare off the gang that was threatening her, lots of proud and stalwart defenders sure of the rightness of their actions, pats on the back from the Chief of Police, no lawsuits, no arrests of the "wrong" party, no charges for brandishing ...

It would be EVER so helpful if AR would publish a more comprehensive view of armed defense, but teaching people about lawful self-defense doesn't seem to be the purpose of that column.
