Okay, so that might sound like I'm a candidate for one of those jackets that ties in the back, but in this case I'm talking about it whispering "Buy me.... Take me home....".

We had a Ruger 10/22 come out with an OEM folding stock and a nice optic....

Damn thing won't shut up. It knows I'm a double deuce junkie......

Not very often, though the voice in my head will scream "You are stupid if you dont find a way to buy that XYZ right now, because you'll never see another one in that condition again. So give him $50 to hold it, and run home to grab some trade goods!"

Or something like that.:)

Listening to voice got me these-

The M&P 2.0 9 Compact is screaming at me to buy one.
So far I’m holding off.
Right now I'm holding off on the thought that I have a .22 bolt action and a .22 semi auto already. If it was a .22 lever or pump I'd be running my credit card now.

Which reminds me, not sure if I told the story on here before or not but a guy came by the shop and said he had a rifle in his car, would I take a look. Normally I tell people to bring things in but he didn't have a case for it and felt odd about just walking across the parking lot with the bare rifle, which I can understand so I went out to his car. Looking at the right side of his rifle I realized it was an early .22 gallery gun, just what I'm aching for! Picked it up and saw the receiver was empty. No bolt, nothing in there. He said "you can shine it up and hang it on the wall." I'd have bought it for parts if it had any parts in it.

That voice gets me in trouble. I have found a way to squash it but it involves imagining my wife scowling at me and leaving right away. The trouble is my OCD kicks in as well as my Adult ADD and sometimes I just say “What the hell!” and endure the results...

An S&W model 63 has been calling out to me...:D

Yep quite a few times, especially when it comes to the "oldies but goodies" guns! Picked up several pistols, all of them like new, that way. There was a Browning Model 1910/1955, a Baby Browning, a Colt Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless .380 (nickel plated and with factory pearl grips), and a S&W Model 34 (for the wife's first gun). Some newer guns were a barely used SIG P229R (which I got for a great price and came with night sights, SRT, E2 grips, and spare magazines), and a CZ P01 (another nice deal plus they practically gave me a Kadet .22 conversion kit to go with it)!

I picked up a Colt Anaconda, .45 Colt from a tabler in a gun show. As soon as I held it in my hand, I knew! I didn't even put it back on the tble, but tucked it into my waist band as I reached for my wallet!:)

Back in 94 or 95 I walked into a small gunshop that was 150 miles from my home. I was just blouse browsing to quote Clark Griswald. There she was, staring at me with that, "come hither," look. The lines were nice with beautiful fiddleback grain, and in a sexy foreign caliber. My comment was, "Gosh, I hope you don't take credit cards." The owner assured me that he did. I called home to check with the boss and then proceeded to pay the man.

That is the only gun that I absolutely swooned over. A Remington 700 Classic in 6.5 Swede. I kept it 5 or 6 years before I ever shot it. There is a 13 point whitetail on the wall that was taken with gun. But alas, the lust subsided and I sold the rifle to a friend. I'm fickle I guess.

The only real love at first sight impulse buy I ever made is my colt targetsman. It grabbed me by the collar and whispered sweat nothings in my ear.

Don't you just hate that?
First gun that I fell in love with just looking at its picture was the first gun I ever bought. Here's a picture of the magazine cover that made my heart go pitty pat.

Shooting Times sm.JPG

I got it in 6". Lovely gun in all respects, but geeze, Louise, the hoops I had to jump through in 1974 in New Jersey to buy it!

Well actually I can think of two others, but I had to wait for the opportunity to get them. I have a ruger 4" sp101 which I dearly love. As soon as I saw a picture I knew I had to have one. I waited about a year and finally picked one up when I saw one in a counter. The other is my Marlin 45-70 guide gun. I first saw one in a shop when I was about 15 and longed for it. It took another 15 years for me to actually get around to getting one.

Yeah ... Cabelas currently has non-Grip-Zone Mod.2 3.3" XDs .45s w/Tritium+ Front Sight on sale for $350. It would not shut up ... like a little itch.

I have an original 3.3 XDs .45 ("Grenade Grip") that I bought in 2014 and the thing is very accurate, comfortable (for me) and concealable ...

... so I ordered the Mod.2 from Cabelas. <sigh> :)

I should be receiving the "It's Here" email in the next coupla days.

==================

8/22/19 EDIT: I went to the Cabelas website today to check a detail on this XDs Mod.2. I saw that the price had reverted from $350 sale price to its $450 regular price. I had to smile. ;)

BTW, back in Aug'14 I got a really good deal on my original XDs; $475 (on Gunbroker) ... o'course added to that was, probably (at least), $20 shipping and $20-$25 xfer fee.

Oh yeah. Frequently... They come in two forms, either a "buy it now because that price won't get better"...usually from the Walmart clearance threads, or from a "that would be a neat one to own but what do I do with it?" Right now, in the former category, is a Savage 6.5 Creedmore calling my name. I have no use for a 6.5 and own no others of the caliber, but...

In the latter group, I just purchased a 450 Bushy upper. And I don't hunt large game. But I will get a thrill out of that "whump". And besides, I get to reload another caliber.

Over the years, the old-school blued S&W hump-backed Bodyguard. I've never found the right one at the right price though. The Browning 1955 pistol is another one that's been very insistent, but $500-700 for what will essentially be a novelty? I can't bring myself to do it.

I’ve been whispered to, shouted at, and grabbed and shaken. Almost always declined their seduction which I regret greater than any purchases I’ve made. I have some empty holes in the safe that still haunt me. Oh, that sweet Sako L61R barrel stamped “300 MAG” from a time when that meant only one thing. And that handsome Clackamas, Oregon made Kimber 89 chambered in 375 H&H still NIB. Only a fool let’s opportunities like those pass. Confirmation of what people have been saying about me for years, I suppose.
