So what’s the deal with Facebook and gun sales? Why are they so strict? Is it illegal?

I was part of a hunting page on Facebook that had gun sales a lot and people selling fake ID and passport and also sexual content involving a deer, log and hunter. I reported all of them cause the deer thing was just too much with kids and such and apparently the group reported my 13yo profile to Facebook and they have blocked me from even using my own page.

I'd stay the H-ll away from any social media platform these days selling or buying firearms. They have their own rules and are generally anti gun. You don't know who or what your dealing with. I'd stick with places like Gun Broker, Gun Auction or similar known, dedicated gun sites. Not worth it IMO.

My god what did you do to the deer!? No wonder they banned you!

Seriously, Facebook has been anti-gun for several years. And I wouldn’t be apart of that group for ANY reason. Well, actually, I can’t be apart of any group. I don’t have Facebook. And my life is great. I’m not an off the grid kind of person. I just always thought Facebook was unnecessary drama.

I couldn’t tell you how many guns I’ve bought in the last year. Maybe 15? Not one has come from a social media site.

Someone posted it and it was downright nasty so I reported it along with felons trying to buy Muzzleloaders and the group admin reported me to Facebook. They said I’m not allowed in any Facebook groups I didn’t start.

Ouch. My better 3/4 has me grounded to 1 per year, regardless of available funds. Sometimes i go to the range with 2 and come home with 3 though, she has never noticed that gun breeding by way of reverse osmosis occurs magically in the back of my van, spooky.

Maybe they banned you because having someone constantly reporting posts on their page might get the whole page shut down?

FYI felons are allowed to have muzzleloaders (at least federally) so you were reporting activity that was legal. Facebook still doesn’t like guns though. Their platform, their rules (kinda like how THR has rules against things like politics).

All of the firearms related pages have sticky posts at the top of their pages stating they will kick you out if you attempt to sell firearms. Most pages (all that I know of) will also kick you if you report their page or block their moderators. I have repeatedly reported porn on a coffee humor page and have never gotten in trouble for that as it was clearly vandalism. But you report things to FB at your own risk. I have lost many battles over things that I thought were legal to post only to have FB reject them. Most of these were because they labeled it as fake news even though I could corroborate it with local news reports, etc. Coincidentally these have all been conservative posts or ones that made certain other parties look bad.

I saw a guy post some assorted things in the garage sale group, all non gun related except about a dozen USGI AR mags. The very first person to comment was like "just what we need, more stupid machine gun clips floating around, not allowed to do this. REPORTED!"

Yeah, I don't think Facebook is the place to conduct firearms sales, more trouble than it's worth. If they weren't so blatantly anti gun it would be great. I actually am not on Facebook but my wife has a profile and I sometimes use it to conduct buys/trades/sales in one of the Knife and Balisong groups, great way to find collectible and rare gem pieces you might not find otherwise.

I jumped on the FB bandwagon when it first came out and it was the thing to do for us college kids.

Used it as the maker intended for a few years.

Then I just ghosted for nearly a decade until I heard about their marketplace.

Now I purely only use it for the Marketplace. My account is very locked down so my presence is nearly invisible.

I was on FB for about a year, suspended my account 4 years ago. Like most anything there is good and bad, but for me the idiots posting, sharing, and getting all worked up over stuff that was obviously fake news stories just wasn't worth it. My wife uses her account to keep up with her large extended family. She has bought and sold stuff on their hometown marketplace page. She tried to post a couple of scopes I wanted to sell but they wouldn't allow it. Then they declined a SUITCASE that she posted for sale. She waited a week and re-posted the suitcase and they accepted it the 2nd time. Can't figure that one out.
