I guess one of the reasons I ask is the "price premium" people ask for FGMM brass. If there isn't a difference, or not one could tell (headstamps are NOT different), then there is the possibility of being sold FGMM brass (AND paying that premium) and all you're getting is standard FC headstamp brass.
I know Hornady has two different headstamps (Match and regular).
a lot of folks don't consider F-C brass to even be reloadable
You'll find a lot of once-fired Federal Gold Medal Match brass available. While it tends to shoot accurately, we've found GMM brass is relatively soft compared to Lapua or Winchester, so the primer pockets tend to loosen up after just three or four reloadings.
3 or 4 firings is fine when you're only paying $12/100. I've got about 1.5k that I've almost got prepped. Not match prepped, but enough for my skills.
The hope is (as most I'm sure) is that eventually my skills will eventually improve and better brass will be needed. With the 1.5k that I have now, it'll get me through the current barrel. It is an ER Shaw that I only paid $160 shipped (bought new). Quality trigger time is my main priority right now.
My other thread is about trying to find a good place to find OFB. I had some bookmarked, but they have either gone out of business or their prices have gone up to the point that I might as well get new.
