Just pick up a DSA SA58 last week. It shoots wonderful. But I need more mags. What mags are better steel or aluminum. Any info will help me. Thank you :scrutiny:

I really don't know which are better. I bought a huge box of FAL mags, half of each.

The aluminum one's are lighter andwon't rust. Eevry once in a while I take the springs out and throw them in the sink with some hot water and dawn. It's nice to be able to clean mags that way.

The steel ones will probably stand up to wear better. You can also bang out a dent if you had to.

Get some of each like I did.

I got most of mine from these guys, they have pretty good prices: www.oldgunsupply.com

All surplus FAL mags were made on FN tooling, so they all work well assuming they haven't been beat to hell. I like steel better because they reliably drop-free when empty and I hit the button, but I've heard some people can get the aluminum to do the same. Aluminum is MUCH lighter than the steel, but with 20rds of .308 in it the mag weight is not that big a deal, and the steel is a little heavier duty.

Both are good - I agree, get some of each!
