I know I know, BUT its not what you think. I am looking for a fanny pack holster for my Khar PM9 to fit in and room for some items such as wallet and keys and compass and map.

I want to modify it so I can hang it across the front of me when I have my backpack when backpacking.

I plan on cutting off the belt part and modifying it to attach to the shoulder straps so it basically sits in front of my on my chest and hangs between my shoulder straps.

Why not just purchase a chest holster?

Seems like you are trying to reinvent the wheel. Look into a chest holster like the ones made by Simply Rugged. If you will be carrying a 1911 or S&W revolver you may look into the reproduction leather WWII holsters, check out cabelas for some examples.
If concealed carry is your objective the fanny pack will work, but where i hike and hunt the quick release zipper would constantly get caught on brush or branches possibly opening up the pack!

Yep. Fatboy man purse. Love them.

Makes you look like King Dork or a Jack Bauer wanna be but the truth is they work very very well.

I use one when I'm out hiking/hunting/4wheeling or somewhere I truly don't care what I look like :)

Love my Maxpedition Versipak Jumbo! I can't carry at work, but it makes for a great way to get to and from the car in the morning/afternoon when going to work. I can also keep my holster in it for when I can CCW.

Good product, tough as nails.

I like the Maxpedition stuff I may try and find something to work with there. Thanks for all the ideas

try it as you originally planned

When I got out with abackpack I try to keep the arm concealed. Put the fanny pak on in front, a little looser than normal. Put on the backpack, fasten the hip strap under the fanny pak and tighten the hip strap. The fanny pack will hang over the buckle. Works pretty good

The folks at The Wilderness make excellent gear. I live in Phx. where they are based out of and if you contact them they can and will do any kind of custom work you can think of. Otherwise I would look at Maxpedition.

The Safepacker is awesome. Perfect for backpacking. I've carried it for several years now and have never had so much as a second glance or comment.

Fanny pack does tend to scream "gun", at least to us gunnies. The Safepacker just kind of blends into the scenery. Especially if you get the khaki color.
