My dad and I went out to the local range today. Usually the car is loaded with target .22s to shoot .22 benchrest with, but today the contents were three shotguns, (A Mossberg 590 12 gauge, an old Ithaca 66 20-gauge single shot, and an FIAS 20-gauge over-and-under.) plus ammo, two boxes of clays, and two 20 to 410 gauge adapters.
It was fun shooting those light .410 loads out of the 20-gauges. We each broke a few clays.
Dad shot quite a few doubles and some triples with the 590. I shot some with the FIAS. (Hmm, this is a nice gun....I gotta get it away from Dad this hunting season! )
All in all, the shotgun-only trip was a pleasant break from the usual benchrest shooting. We went through two boxes of .410 and one of 12, plus a bit of 20 and three-quarters of a box of clays. It started to rain just as we started packing up. Good timing!
