Have quite a few holsters for full size 1911's but none for a commander size.
What do you folks recommend?

Great minds think alike.
My current full size favorite is the Milt Sparks summer special, so much so that shortly before posting this I placed an order for a commander size SS2.
Both the Criterion and the VM2 look interesting but neither are currently available for the 1911 on their website.
Problem is in todays internet era you can't just go someplace to try one on to see which model is the better fit for you.
Already know about the summer special which is why ordering one was a no brainer.

I have a Galco Avenger for a full size, very comfortable and secure. I've worn it in the woods while Grouse hunting and never felt fatigued after a full days hunt.

For clarity, you are saying they are not "in stock" and not that they aren't available for the 1911, correct?

Sparks offers both the Criterion and the VM II for the 1911.

It's been my experience that the model listings on the Milt Sparks website is not up to date. I had to call them and ask for availability.

Thanks for the tip frogfurr but it still doesn't solve the problem of comfort and fit. Problem for me is the extended belt appendages. I have no idea of how they feel in actual use. Unlike an OTW holster these need to be inside your pants and I'm very fussy about what goes on inside my pants. ;)

Currently wear an Aliengear cloak tuck... 3.5, I think? Anyhow, it's quite comfortable standing, but took a good deal of fiddling to find the sweet spot for sitting. Little bulkier than, say, an unreinforced leather would be, but still conceals well tucked.

When I was carrying OWB with an open front shirt, I was always paranoid about the wind billowing it open. With a stainless gun against a black shirt, especially, was a recipe for the accidental reveal. Now, can look neat with shirt tucked, and don't have to worry, it's not going anywhere.

Marine_Corps_Concho_Med__39786.1489092510.jpeg Just ordered one of these without a thumb break from Tucker Gun Leather. Supposed to be here this week. Very short lead time right now too. I borrowed one, and had to buy one!
