Federal Appeals Court Mull Guns in Post Offices



A Colorado man is arguing where postal property is in regard to carrying guns. A Federal Judge ruled last year that the bans on guns in the parking lot violated the Second Amendment but lobby carry could be prohibited. The Postal Service and the complainant are both appealing the decision.

(I think the prohibition on shipping handguns by non FFL's should be done away with as well, but that is not what the issue is about in this case).

"The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is set to hear arguments Wednesday in the case involving Tab Bonidy, a licensed handgun owner who in 2010 sued the Postal Service over its ban on guns in post offices. The agency also barred Bonidy from leaving a gun in his vehicle in the parking lot."

"A licensed handgun owner?" In CO that could only mean a carry permit unless they are really confusing a FFL.

The parking lot restriction is a constant problem and needs to be eliminated, but as for inside the PO, wouldn’t that be covered by the general all-encompassing ban on carry in all Federal buildings? Or did the privatizing of the PO remove it from the Federal ban.
