I have a savage 30-30 bolt gun that feeds from a 3 round mag. Feeding is pretty fickle, often the top round in the mag cants up too high and won't make it into the chamber. Any ideas/recommendations?

Must be an old 340 type savage, although I think Savage made some other styles of boltaction .30-30 rifles.

I would try another magazine, or try tweek the one I had. Maybe tighten up the feed lips just a bit at a time until the rifle fed properly. Sounds like the mag is out of whack, ain't keeping the cartridges aligned properly.

A pair of smooth jawed pliers can be used to tweek the feed lips without leaving marks.

That'd be my guess as well. Bend the front of the feed lips in/down slightly to keep the round under control longer.

had a 340 for a little while.

sounds similar to what I had to do...the lip "adjustment" they speak of worked for mine...but please do try to be careful with it and only small adjustments at a time...hope you enjoy this fine rifle...they are a fine addition to anyones collection. :)
