For many years i've had trouble with hogs eating the deer corn. Tried some fences of different heights to 26 inches. All fences kept most hogs away from the feeder. Two big boars went over the 26 Inch fence. Saw them on game camera and killed both.

Last spring i built a feeder fence using 34 inch hog panel as recommended by folks at TAMU. Fence is cut down in a couple places to 28 inches so fawns can access the feeder. Despite the fact that the area is over run with wild hogs, no hog has gotten inside fence.

Keeping the hogs out isn’t a big problem. Your method is probably the easiest there is. But keeping them in, can be tough. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if you have a pig that will eventually jump/climb that fence when the food starts getting scarce.

I don't mind they eat the corn, just when they mess with the feeder. I've had 'em turn it over, even break timers off and such. So, I have a cheap feeder hanging on a block and tackle from a tree limb. It holds about 2 weeks worth of feed. I live here, so it's no biggy to maintain corn in the feeder. It's deer getting in my HOG trap that miffs me off. It seems to traumatize 'em pretty bad. Deer are stupid, I don't care who thinks they're smart.
