I have plenty of semi and double actions floatin around but the one gun I never did pick up over the years was a center fire single action- a black hawk specifically .... I did grab a vaquero bisely in .44 years back for maybe startin cowboy action shootin and a couple single sixes and a uberti in .22. I have been regrettin not ever grabbin one of the many used under three hundred dollar super blackhawks or even a 357 over the years. They are not often found anymore ...
I got into the 45 colt game late and sold a perfectly good 4 inch n frame deciding not to gear up for yet another cartridge but that was ruined when a bud forced me into his used redhawk hunter in 45 colt with plenty of brass primer and dies to make a decent start... I like that piece and the thought of just one gun chambered for one thing or another does not often sit well here.
Well conversing with another friend he showed interest in a fairly high dollar knife and suggested I trade for this beat up blackhawk .45 lc... I had thought about it for a week or so and decided it would be ok. Well darned if when I got there and he pulled it out it looked funny. It was like new and not beat up but it did have a super blackhawk type cylinder on it- and it was engraved. It also had a stainless trigger and hammer and grip frame... he says I did not like the other gripframe- then it hit me- it started as a bisely! He says I have all the parts here and some extra springs etc
I had always liked the bisley blackhawk rugers and never had got around to one- ruger redhawks seemed to be my choice- and n frame smiths but I always wanted one... well it only stayed as he had it for a few hours when I got home before I swapped the frame and the hammer back to normal- although I do have the stainless trigger in it still.
I checked the cylinder throught with some of my acp bulletts and they are tight so I may be ok in that department- I will have to shoot her but I will have to wait- I need a front grip frame screw which decided to play hide n seek in my lil sunroom where I did the surgery ... I can not believe it got lost in a bare floored room of 7x9 UGH
I have some high hopes for this hog leg but wee will see! Ruger only 45 colt loads down to cat sneeze loads - talk about a range of loads!
I did find out why my bud traded out kinda on the cheap though.... turns out this guns serial number ends in 666
