Anyone ever used Polenta as a filler,it's a fine corn meal

If it's cornmeal then it should compress very well give it a try. I've even known guys who for what ever reason have used Cocoa Puffs.

how fine it is depends on the brand. polenta = cornmeal.

Yep. i use it in my revolvers and even my single shots.

I tried cream of wheat (semolina) and found it to be too fine and made more of a mess than the polenta.

Question for those of you that use filler, do you put a wad between the filler and the powder or between the ball and the filler? I'm still trying to figure out the proper loading before going to the range with my new Pietta new army 44. Is filler even necessary?

No. Powder, filler or wads, then bullet. A dab of grease on the ball if you don't ude greased wads.

I'll ad to Mike's post just a little. If you're gonna use lube over the ball skip the wad entirely. Even if you don't use any lube nothing bad will happen if you skip the wad, it's just basically filler too. Skipping the lube will only have an effect after a cylinder or so then things will get tight real quick. Have fun.
