I've been in the market for an AK-74 for sometime, and well, today I finally got around to picking one up!

Its an interarms build, not century. The finish on it looks amazing, I had actually gone in to buy an Arsenal in 7.62x39, but all they had were folding stock models and I was not interested, I saw the Tantal with polymer handguards and a fixed stock and had to have it.

I got a BUNCH of the wolf 70 grain military classic for it, I'll be taking it out sometime this week to zero it.

I also finally have a reason to load up on those bulgarian 1080 round tins! And they are still quite affordable.

post a pic!!! You can't just "tell" us how nice something is without posting a pic of it :D

I don't see any AK's up here as they're illegal, so pictures are always nice.

i think alot of places that had the bulgarian surplus stuff are now selling the Russian stuff. AIM had the bulgarian stuff up untill about 2 weeks ago i put in an order for the wasp round and the russian stuff came in! when i checked the site it said russian.

if it makes a differnce to you, you could give the vendor a call and see what they are selling. i know JG has bulgarian for sale but the picture shows russian. im pretty sure century still has it but they want around 150+ a can for it!:what:

I've been wanting to ask: How do you Tantal owners like the left-side thumb safety? Is it real stiff, or is it actually easy to work?

I ask because I've been considering lately that I oughta grab a Tantal kit and get it built into a rifle, while the getting's good...

Polish AK74s are nice! I really like shooting the 5.45 more than the 7.62 at the range. Have fun with it!

It's really easy to move in the "safe" position, not so easy to move into "fire," but the dealer told me that with time it will loosen up, I guess I'll see.

Honestly who knows how long it will stay inexpensive. At some point in time the prices will skyrocket, I guess we can look back at examples like .223 and 7.62x39 and LEARN from them. When it's cheap, stack it deep.

unfortunately I don't have any of the targets from today with me, but it was a breeze to shoot! I used some corrosive milsurp, I think its russian but I have no idea. The headstamp is marked 539 on the top and 76 on the bottom, the cases are laquer coated and have red sealant on them. I also shot a bunch of the wolf 70 grain military classic. It liked the wolf a lot. I didn't measure the groups yet but it shot REMARKIBLY better than my wasr 10 does haha.

My only real complaint about this rifle is that the handguards dont exactly match the buttstock... the stock is made by tapco and is matte black, the handguards are glossy black. I would like to replace the handguards AND stock but I dont know if they are interchangable with others on the market.

Hertzfeld, most definitely haha. We can swap rifles for the day.
