I have been using a Lee Loader for my 30-30 with a Lee FCD and a Hand Press for crimping.

All using the Lee dipper that came with the Lee Loader, Open sights with my Marlin 336W.

1) To start I used Win 760 and Federal Primers with Speer 170 grain FN.
This combo stank. It was all over the place even at 50 yards out of my 336W. I could not get it to group.

I just gave up. So I went to the next trial. A entire new load.

2) Same brass as before, but with CCI LR Primers, IMR 3031, and Sierra 150 grain FN. This gave me some hope. They grouped at about an inch at 50 yards. By the time I got to shooting at 100 yards the wind was blowing about 10 to 15 miles per hour. So the groups at 100 were around 3 - 4 inches. I am glad I tried a new setup. I shot some of the 170 Speers FN with the IMR 3031 and CCI primers. They did okay but not as good as the Sierra FN.

Now when I first got my gun I went and shot 2 boxes of Federal PowerShok 170 round nose. At 100 yards I shot a 1 inch group of 11 rounds with 2 flyers out of that 11 rounds. I know my gun likes 170's so it just doesn't like the Speer FN bullets. My next purchase is going to be some round nose bullets to reload and a scale so I can dial in the load.

I thought I would share my experience with you.
