ok now time to figure some things out lol and i value the forums thoughts tremendously.
right now its a BCM Middy barrel,bcg,Del-Ton upper receiver
standard handgaurds,Daniel Defense low profile gas block(the middy is not drilled for tapper pins) i put a scope on it just so i could shoot it
since i've spent the cash for BCM parts i don't wanna cheap out on other stuff.i have 2 get a new gas block i had 2 steal the DD off my target AR 2 get the middy running...now are the Yankee hill flip up sight gas blocks good quality? if not what is a good one? going to leave the standard handguards on. now comes the rear sight. magpul flip up? or is it better to stick with steel and get something like a bcm flip up rear? i'll be running open sights for a year or so by there self.because i'm going to save for how ever long it takes 2 get an ACOG love the idea of no batteries. u guys that run your rifles hard training, carbine classes.. 3gun..give me some direction

If you're going to run irons for a year, consider the Troy folding BUIS if you want folders. They are very well made and should last you a very long time. Magpul aren't bad as backups, but to me the apertures are kind of chunky and distracting. The thinner metal ones work better for me. I do have the Magpuls on one AR, and Troys on my others.

Congrats on your new AR.

To start with I have never run a "top notch" flip up sight on my AR. However, when I was in the market I saw the price difference between the Magpul and the predominantly metal YHM, Troy, etc., and was about to dish out the extra money for one of the more expensive brands. But then one day when I made a range trip I looked at an ACR with Magpul MBUS sights and was thrilled, so much so that my AR now wears one as a rear BUIS. It is polymer, which is one reason it is cheaper, but it flips up very fast and locks in place tightly. I couldn't be happier with it and would definitely recommend it.

forgot 2 add i'm fine with leaving the cheap scope on for awhile if that's what it takes for me to save and get quality parts that will perform and last as long as the BCM barrel/bcg

TX whats your take on a front gas block/flip up sight?

I personally prefer the YHM and Troy front flip up sights to the Magpul. The Magpul is good, and as a back up would be great, but for primary sights (as you are wanting) stick with YHM and Troy up front. My experience with these front sights was limited, as it is with my dad's AR that I don't shoot too often. My AR is an A3 flattop so I just have a flip up rear sight.

I honestly don't think you will regret any of these options for BUIS, just stick away from NCStar and those other "cheap" brands.

One other thing - the Magpul can melt on a gas block under heavy firing, and Magpul doesn't recommend using them there.
