It's a common post here. WHEN will I find a SR1911. Well, after 7 months and 17 days mine finally made it. It was well worth the wait. The fit and finish defy the price point. I'm in the middle of a major bathroom remodel right now so I figure I was lucky to get a couple hours this morning to pick it up after the call. I wasn't about to push my luck and go to the range. The guys at the toy store said to tell my wife that it took 4 hours to do the paperwork and just go shoot. Tempting but I was being good for once. After all, she just smiled when I stopped hanging concrete board to go get it.

Congrats on your new SR1911. I am sure your wife would have understood if took an extra hour or two and stopped by the range!!!!!

I have been looking for quite a while myself. Bought one online and had it shipped in. Saw it last night for the first time and love it! Have to wait until Monday to pick it up however since Wisconsin has a stupid "cooling off period". It took 8 days to get here, and then I have to cool off?

Can't wait to get it home and clean it!

1goodshot, that's a great idea but she's not really into firearms. She would sometimes shoot with me in the backyard when we had acreage in Indiana but she doesn't want to go to a range. I'm fortunate she tolerates my gun addiction. I figure I waited almost 8 months to get it so I can hold off a while to try it out, at least until I get the bathroom done.

Very nice. Let us know how it shoots.

I have decided that my first 1911 will be the SR1911, there is no other 1911 that will suffice. ;)

I understand. I wasn't initially thrilled about the stainless but it has an excellent feature set for the price point. For a first firearm purchase I couldn't be happier. I saw a range report on that claimed 1.5 inch groups from a ransom rest. I you have as much fun as I've had. Congratulations!

Congrats on finally getting one! I finally got mine a couple of months ago, after waiting what seemed like forever for one to finally show up at my favorite LGS. I had read somewhere that Ruger wasn't going to advertise anything until it was already a available and on dealer's shelves. Such was not the case with the SR1911. Seemed like the only people to get their hands on one were gunwriters! Evidently Ruger has been concentrating on their polymer pistols. My LGS was able to obtain exactly one ..which I got. In contrast, I obtained a Ruger LC9 before I'd even seen one advertised! Have to say my SR1911 was worth the wait, but I haven't waited for a Ruger this long since they first announced the Redhawk many moons ago.

Not sure what's printed on the reverse side, but I like the fact that the slide doesn't look like a medication label.

That's funny.

"Please read directions for usage." "External absorption of lead bullets may have negative side effects up to and including lead poisoning and bleeding to death." "Shooting more than three times a week may ruin one's budget."

I feel your pain, imagine my joy upon moving to a state that doesn't have such a stupid law. Walking into a gun store, picking out a hand gun and walking out with it 20 minutes later was quite a novelty the first time.

Let us know how it shoots! I want one SO bad that it was going to be my next 1911, too bad I found a deal I coudln't pass up on a Remington R1, well I won't see a Ruger for a while anyway right?
