my first shot i was a little anxious b/c i've heard of the terrible recoil, but it was VERY easy to shoot and was presently suprised and think i may have found me a new favorite. only problems w/ my 870 were the shell holders i installed. the side saddle (tacstar) had all the rounds move up from where i had them initially placed, was wondering if this was normal. also the gunsock i had on the butt moved (i had read about that before though) but the rough cloth rubbed on my cheeck a little bit.

overall it was a very fun experience, put 30 rounds through no problems, no sore shoulder, nuttin.

need to know how to clean it though  probably should've found out before, but i've got a bore snake, but what should i put on the cloth part and do i need to clean anything else? i've got some CLP stuff but haven't really figured out if it's supposed to be a cleaner or lubricant or if it does both  also have the hoppes #9 and hoppes oil

Glad you had a good time. The Cleaning 101 thread in the Archives can help you.

CLP is better lubing and protecting than cleaning. I use Hoppe's, and when this quart bottle runs out I'll get more. I also use the spray cleaner made by the folks who make SLIP 2000 for the trigger group.

I like the Boresnake for a fast cleanup right after shooting, but the old fashioned rod and brushes work better for me if the crud has time to congeal.

Also, one of the little silicone cloths is a great idea for just after shooting.

HTH....
