Scored some powder the other day, Varget, HS-6, H322, CFE Pistol, Titegroup and HP-38. Will probably use the Varget and HS-6 for my .223 and 5.56. Which of the other 4 would you guys use for plinking a .38 Special 125gr Berry's FN plated? According to Berry's I can use the cast info on Hodgdon's website. So have the recipes, just curious what might be the best powder to use.
Thanks!

Titegroup and HP38 for plinking loads, for sure. I'm not as into TG but W231 is good stuff for light loads.
I bought a bunch of lead 115gr. .3565 bullets at a garage sale years ago. They were marked "38" so I assumed because they had a "crimp groove" they were .358" for light .38Spl but they're not. They're Seaco No.925 mold LSWC-TC's with a lube groove and meant for 9mm. With 3.5gr. of W231 (a.k.a. HP38) in a .38Spl case they're like little laser beams at 25yds and you can hardly feel any recoil.

Varget and H322 for the .223/5.56, try everything else for the .38.

I’m a HS6 fan myself for 9mm. But since I use HS6 for 12 gauge, I’m saving it for shotgun. I’ve switched to Silhouette and am equally as pleased.

Without looking, I would be surprised if your manual didn’t have loads for HS6 in .38 spl.

Powder seems to be showing up more and more lately. I just picked up a pound of AA #7, Titewad and CFE-BLK earlier this week at a small mom & pop store. Then today I was in Sportsman's and they had six more different powders lined up next to their black powder subs which I haven't seen in nearly a year.

I picked up another lb of IMR 4198 for my x39 then took it out to my car, changed my hoodie and my hat and went back in and got another lb of IMR 8208XBR since my LGS has a strict, one container of powder per day: 1lb, 4lbs or 8lb; one a day (PITA).

I passed on the 7lbs of Varget sitting on the shelf.

It's a great powder but doesn't meter like 8208 or TAC and besides I already have an 8lb jug of Varget in my cabinet collecting dust.

Figured since I broke the "one bottle" rule I'd try to regain some karma by leaving it there for the next guy.

HP-38 without question would be my choice for .38 special

HP-38/W-231 works well for me in .38spcl and very accurate as well. Try them all and see what you like.

I'm another huge fan of W231/HP-38 for the .38 Special. Actually, HP-38 was named for the .38 Special. (Hodgon Powder - 38) Well, at least that's what I've read.

I would use the 322 in the .223

Saw a few 1 lb. bottles today, they were like leftover types that few people want at double the prices of Spring 2020.

I'm okay for awhile, and would like to find the usual types on a regular basis for rifle, and pistol.

I heard the BPS in Gatorville has CFE-Blk and HS-6 for “reasonable” $$. 1# only , didn’t mention a limit. I asked what, “reasonable” means: $40. Plus tax, which is 7% there. Not worth the drive for me but if you’re going through there on I-75 anyway, might be worth it to stop.

I agree there too. H-322 will work very well in your .223 ammo without a doubt. It used to be THE powder for the .222 Rem. for competition shooting because of the accuracy.
An old benchrest shooter turned me onto 322 for my .222. Ask any of the hundreds of prairie dogs I shot about it's accuracy. Oh, never mind, you can't ask them because it is so accurate.
