Yesterday afternoon I walked out back and set up my target just to at least have something to point at. I picked up this CVA flintlock a few weeks ago and this was its first outing. I preloaded several different loads both in grams and brands. All shots were .490 patched round ball.. The first I used was Triple 7 and used 4F in the pan. Great results but either my target jumped to the right or I pulled off to the left. Second powder was APP at 75 g with 4F in pan. With the APP I had at least 4 failure to fire, nice flash but no boom. Finally got it to go and decided no more of the APP. Third load was 75 g of 3F BP again using 4F in the pan. By now my son and his girlfriend came out to see what I was doing, this was the first time she had actually seen a flintlock so out comes the camera. I loaded one shot up of 3F BP around 90 g, and gave her a count down. Hope to have picture today, the ball of fire and smoke was great and she loved it. I did notice that the last load of 3F had more of a kick than the Triple 7 and have decided that the APP will be used for something other than the flintlock. All in all great time and this just confirmed that making smoke is the best way to shoot. Oh yea the target I took out was a 8" long piece of landscape timer, really makes a nice big hole in the front and nasty hole in the back.

GREAT, Glad to see you shootin a Flintlock. Really the only way to go. Really keeps you in touch with things. ONLY use real Black Powder. If the
one above would wanted us to shoot cap, he would have scattered them
on the ground like he did flints. Think about it.
