also since you really don't want to have it on person why not have a bigger gun with more capacity. sub compact guns are made to be carried, not car/truck guns.

It's not that I don't want to have it on me. In reality it's that in the course of my day-to-day life, I can't have it on me, as I work in a small office down the hall from a bank, they've made a no-guns policy.

My interest here is to have a very concealable gun that I would keep at home or in the car until I had the desire to carry it. I'm interested in diversifying my collection, and part of that is getting a very small, but effective carry gun.

I have much better options for range/fun/hunting/plinking/SHTF including:

2 x 12 ga shotguns - benelli nova & remington 1100
1 x 20 ga shotgun - remington 870
1 x 30-06 Tikka T3 lite
1 x .22 - Ruger 10/22
1 x .45ACP - Ruger SR1911

I'd like to add:
.223 or .22-250 bolt action
.223 Semi-auto, most likely an AR-15
Revolver 6" or more in .357 or larger
Concealable pistol in 9mm or .45
Lever Action Rifle/Carbine
Over/Under 12 ga shotgun - something a little more refined
Something the GF is comfortable with when I'm not home (working on that separately)

I have the ability to borrow, easily:

Glock 17
Remington 700 in .22-250
Savage in .17 Winchester Super Magnum
Uberti Schofield in .38
Winchester 94 in .30 WCF
Ruger Blackhawk in .357/9mm
M1 Carbine
Various Shotguns

I think that should cover all of the bases. I've decided that I'd like to fill the concealable pistol slot next.

Anything you guys think I should add instead?

ok, so you're really interested in a sub compact. I seen you stated compact as well so I listed a few. you only listed striker fired guns as well so is that a preference ? there's some small 1911's out there as well as other hammer fired guns. sig p250/938. pretty much every gun maker is gonna have compact and sub compact guns these days that are quality and reliable. If I had to pick a sub compact I think I would go with a shield or the xds as they feel decent in my hands.

For car carry, (not the best choice, but yours to make) or occasional carry, very small size isn't the issue it is with 24/7 carry guns. Myself, I'd look for a police trade G19.
