First gun ordered. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Should be here middle of next week.

Whoever guesses what I bought will get a title of "Online Clairvoyant". :D :D :D
Shouldn't be too hard with the discussions and my needs in my threads.

I'm going to go with an HK VP9 in a double stack or a Walther CCP in a single stack. Maybe a S&W M&P .22 to be added later.

I'm guessing the Shield 9. Excellent pricing now, easily concealed, reliable and accurate. You stated in your other thread you started shooting the 9mm well and then went downhill. Since you're used to 22 cal lack of recoil/noise I'd guess you may be anticipating the recoil/blast after a couple shots.

My first ever gun purchase has a road block...
This is so weird.
I got a call from the online store that they can't use the FFL I selected. That FFL offers the lowest transfer fee.

It turns out that the FFL is moving to new address starting May 1st which is still almost three weeks but the problem is ATF site already has their new address while the FFL's address is still old.
They haven't received the new license to send them and they don't know when they'll get it. I assume they'll get it soon since it's April already.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the updated license?
I'm okay waiting few days.

A new license can take a long time, sometimes months.

Why didn't you just order the gun from a gun shop and none of this could have happened?

No, not online. But from a gun shop like the one You were sending the gun to. If they don't have it they can order it for you. If course you only buy it they are competitive. You could have ordered the gun from a gun store. Where I live when you buy a gun from a shop they don't charge a transfer fee. When you send a gun to them they don't make anything on it so they charge between $35 and $50 for the transfer.

How much did you save after S&H and how much is the transfer?

Gun shops usually charge overhead and taxes. It's usually much cheaper to buy online. My transfer fees are always $20-$25 only. I'm sure there are a few other FFLs that the OP is unaware of in his area that do not charge much.

In any event, the OP isn't giving much information for anyone to be of any real help IMHO...

I already saw this guess in the thread, but I'm still going to guess: Shield in 9mm

Who did you order from? Many online vendors have an FFL search feature. You plug in your zipcode and they list the FFLs near you who are already registered with them.

Is there a checklist of things to do when I bring the gun home?
Do I have to clean before I head out? I'll buy cleaning kit when I pick the gun at FFL store.
Should I keep it in the case in the trunk to and from the range? Loaded/unloaded?

I haven't bought any ammo yet. My plan is to buy few boxes locally first few times.

Do I have to keep the magazines loaded for few days for spring to settle in?
Slide locked for few days for recoil spring to settle in?

What else do I need to do before taking it to the range?
Thanks

Speaking for at least myself I cannot tell you just how much I appreciate you giving me a reason to carry on for yet another week of suspense and anticipation.
It's an M&P, the model is one of the ones you guys suggested.
Tracking is in. Should be here Wednesday and the kind of suspense ends. :D
