Today I fired my new Tactical Innovations .22 and .223 suppressors installed on two Smith and Wesson 2206 pistols and one DPMS AR-15, using full power, standard ammo. I had never fired any firearm with a suppressor before today. On the pistols, the light weight can pretty much eliminated any firing noise, other than the high pitched metal on metal clang produced by the semi-automatic action. I am very careful about hearing protection and always use both wet tissue paper in the ears and ear muffs. When I fired the .22s with ear muffs off, the sound was minimal. With no hearing protection, the main thing I heard was the metallic clang. I think most people would dispense with hearing protection when firing a .22 with this suppressor.

On the DPMS .223, I first test fired the rifle with a Smith compensator installed. Then I removed it and put on the Tac can. I estimate that the sound heard by the shooter was about cut in half and the higher frequencies were dampened or eliminated.

In accordance with the dealer's advice, I squirted Break Free into both of the cans before shooting. This resulted in a good bit of smelly smoke which gradually diminished.

Granted I am a novice in using cans, but I was pleased with the results today. Cycling with the full strength ammo did not seem to be affected although I had one .22 misfire and one stovepipe jam with the .223.

Get any gas in the face from the increased pressure of the can on the AR15? Also, try any shooting for groups/accuracy with the can on?

Also, for fun, try firing the .223 someplace with enclosed berms or walls that the sound can reflect off as it travels downrange. It is kind of a weird noise when you first hear it.

Yes, I got something back in my face. Not much of a problem since I had shooting glasses on. I thought it might be the Break Free. I did not try for precision shooting on this first outing. I think it is possible that point of impact has dropped a bit.
