Hello Folks,

Picked up this beastie on trade last week. A BFR in 45-70

As some of you might have noticed by the picture it's a little shorter then normal, measures in at 6" versus the stock 7.5" or 10" barrels.

Hit the range Friday and broke her in ;) 5 rounds of 350gr factory loads, 5 of 405gr factory and 20 rounds of 350 "hotter" hand loads.

A ton of fun and yes my wrists are intact. Factory loads were pretty mild considering the cartridge but the hotter hand loads definitely get your attention.

Pretty happy with her and she's easy peasy to load for compared to my previous big boomer a S&W 460V

Can hardly wait to do some more reloading and hit the range again.

Way cool! I always wondered what a revovler chambered for 45/70 would feel like to shoot. I imagine with that relatively short barrel you gets lots of flash and boom? Is she a range toy or do you plan to hunt with it?

Unfortunately she's just a range toy for now.

I'm a Canuk so any handgun hunting is a no-no :(

Not as much flash as I was expecting but the BOOM was pretty frick'n cool!

Will need to work on my reloads for it. I love H110 and 180gr 44MAG loads so will try and find something similar for the BFR.

The Bullseye range shooters always hated me, now they may just run me out of town.
