First time CCW - felt weird

Congrats on your CCW. I just got Georgia's version last week. I put my 642 in a no-slip nylon front pocket holster, got in my truck and went out to do some errands. The first place I went without thinking was to get my companies' mail at the USPS!. Bad choice, already made my first mistake on my first trip on my first day. At least I rememberred enough to lock the gun in the glove compartment, and even parked across the street. Then the whole time I was in the post office I was paranoid about having my gun stolen out of my truck. This will take some getting used to. I would like to feel comfortable enough not to think about having a gun in my pocket, but with Georgia's goofy restrictions on where you can go while carrying, I have to always think 2 steps ahead.

Fortunately you started carrying with a very small, light pistol. My first was a 4" XD9 and it took quite a while to get used to carrying.

Another thing I have noticed is quite common with beginning concealed carriers is what I call size evolution. Eventually your concealed carry gun gets smaller and thinner. It doesn't happen to everyone, some people insist on double stack .45s. My CC gun went from a glock 17 to 19 then 26, then finally this month to a single stack 9mm taurus 709. So I recommend to some beginning CC to save yourself a length discovery process and get a compact single stack as your main CC gun.

I imagine that after a while of carrying regularily, you would feel "naked" without it. just like how I do without my wallet, phone, and keys.

Just reading through the posts and it has me thinking what a funny world it is we live in when people who ccw have to feel this way...
