Where in the Florida Statute does it talk about private sale and that firearms aren't required registration?

When I sold my XD40, the buyer wanted me to write-up a "Bill of Sales", but I wanna quote a section in the Florida Statute that states that its perfectly legal to sell a handgun (privately) w/out registering it--of course its a lawful transaction.

Chapter 790 only states selling to minor.

Help!

Thanks.

i've sold several handguns privately in the past, but this is the first time i was asked to furnish a "bill of sale"... i don't mind doing it, but i want to make it look official by putting a disclaimer regarding florida law...

...i think his friend is a police officer and he's the one that advised him to get a proof of purchase from me, for his records... again, i don't doing it, i just want it to look official..

thanks.

I really wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like he's just asking for a receipt. If there's no prohibition against private sales, then there would likely be no statute regarding it.

Seems like he just wants a receipt to me as well.

I always exchange license info, etc and make a bill of sale when I do a private purchase just to be safe (you do it for other items why not guns).

And no, to my memory there is nothing about having to give a receipt during a private transaction, but if you dont mind it will give you both something to keep for your records. And nothing about gun registration either.
