Looks like these still have a long way to go. First through the Judiciary Committee and then through the Rules Committee and then they need to be voted on and signed by the Governor. The remainder of these committees are overwhelmingly Republican as well as the senate. Of course there is also the State House of Representatives versions of these bills too and they will have their own process so its still a long way from happening. But getting this through the state senate is from my limited understanding of the political process the biggest hurdle.

Yes Red Wind I'm very happy about this! And I'm no longer in college and don't plan to open cary but welcome the liberalization of our states laws. My wife heads the Chemistry Dept at a mid size Florida University (probably should have put that in my letter) and will like the additional options too. It will be interesting to get reports from her on what happens through the university system as this progresses and hopefully passes.

Difficult to think of Monroe County of being more conservative than Alachua County. Although Ive been accused of being pretty liberal myself so my definition might be different.

Frank Ettin: Did I post this in the correct sub forum?

Thanks, Dan

We thought it had been, the wording of the 2011 law protecting unintentional exposure not strong enough for some jurisdictions in fl, prosecutions continues, one man convicted has gotten to the Florida supreme court.

It wasn't difficult to see back in 2011 that the "fix" was total nonsense. It did absolutely nothing since everything was up to officer interpretation. Most LEO weren't going to arrest someone because their shirt was blow up by the wind. Those the would were still going to arrest.

Dan, here we can see the voting stats for all 67 Florida counties.

Alachua has 30,00 more Democrats than Republicans.
Monroe has about 1500 more Republicans than Democrats.

It is hard to believe. ;)

The arrest of the Koran burning pastor was another example. I wouldn't be surprised of accidental exposure arrests were the same or went up after that foolishness passed in 2011.

If you read the entire 3 page article, you can see that the proposal has a long way to go:

Still, the fate of the bill spearheaded by Rep. Greg Steube, R-Sarasota, likely remains with the Senate, where an identical measure (SB 68) must get through its next scheduled stop at the Senate Judiciary Committee. The bills are filed for the 2016 legislative session, which starts in January. Committees are taking up bills in advance of the session.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Miguel Diaz de la Portilla, R-Miami, said Tuesday no decision has been made about whether to bring up the campus-carry bill, adding the measure won't be on the agenda for the committee's next meeting.

A similar measure died during the 2015 session after not getting through the Judiciary Committee.

After the recent spate of school problems, and the fact the head of that committee is from the high crime area of Miami, it might be a hard sell.
