Got a brand new Browning FN 35 9mm. Took it to the range and it shoots great except for one problem. When firing, occasinally, the slide will chamber a round but when I pull the trigger there is a faint click but the hammer does not drop. At first I would cycle the slide by hand and the next round would fire. After having this happen at least one time per mag I tried just pulling the trigger multiple times which would make the faint click each time. Eventually after multiple trigger pulls the hammer finally drops and the gun fires. I checked and the gun seems to be properly in battery. Does anyone have an idea what's wrong? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like your trigger is not resetting. More specifically, the trigger lever (sticks up from the frame above the trigger when you pull the trigger with the slide off) may not be slipping back under the nose of the sear lever (mounted in the slide) to pick it up for firing the next round. Are you fully releasing the trigger each time? Have you (or anyone else) messed with the trigger? I've seen the odd occasion when removing the mag disconnect would result in this type of failure. Most likely due to some inadvertant tweak of the trigger spring while working on the gun. Or the spring could just be weak/damaged from the factory. Trigger lever might not be fit properly. Look for grit/debris in the trigger that might be "gumming the works."

Thanks BBBBill. The gun is new in box from the store. Your advise gives me a good picture to go on.

It is also possible with a new gun that there is a small burr on the trigger lever or the sear lever that is not letting the trigger lever reset. A stoke with a stone might correct the problem or it might go away with use.
