Food for thought after being pulled over by a LEO for the first time while carrying

If you fear that you may be disarmed if you notify that you are carrying that’s your business. The thing is, you increase your chances of being disarmed if you don’t notify and your gun is inadvertently exposed. It’s a double edged sword. But it’s your call...

No, it's not my privilege. It's my right.

And it's not that I "fear" being disarmed. What I "fear" (for lack of a better word) is sitting on the side of the road while some Psychopathic murderous cop is screaming at me because he's upset because I didn't tell him something I'm not legally obligated to tell him.

Yes, I'm aware they're not all like that. The problem is in my experience by the time you find out that the cop standing outside your window is like that, it's too late.

Let's not forget I live in the city where James Sorensen was unlawfully arrested and taken to jail for open carrying while Gay. The cops that arrested him are on video telling him that ignorance of the law is no excuse while they're putting the handcuffs on him. His lawyer roasted them over that one.

I don't see any potential benefit from proactively informing the cop that I'm armed. The biggest thing I hear people say is "The cop saw my permit and let me go with a warning" that doesn't happen in Colorado. I've been here since 1992 and with the exception of the psycho I've never had a cop let me go with just a warning.

The second biggest reason I hear people give for proactively informing is in case the cop sees your gun. That's a valid point but I've done everything I can to minimize the likelihood of it happening. My wallet is connected to my car keys so as soon as I take the keys out of the ignition I have the wallet in my hand my registration and proof of insurance are in a caddy on the sun visor.
I don't have to go anywhere near my gun to produce my documents.

The only time I would ever proactively inform a cop in Colorado that I was armed is if I was asked to step out of the vehicle which has never happened. Because if you're asked to step out of the vehicle it's almost a given that they're going to pat you down.

As I said earlier, I don't volunteer information, I don't answer questions and I don't consent to searches.

Mods, the reason I started this thread was to suggest that others talk to their family members about how to act if pulled over by the police, something I had failed to do but corrected. It's devolved into members painting LEO's as being psychopathic murderous cops. I'd like you to shut this one down.
