Relatively difficult to get guns in Canada. Must register (rip the C - 291), and are subject to strict conditions. This is a real pain in the neck, they do not make our magazine more than 5 (the gun) or ten (pistol) in the semi-automatic.

Restricted firearms, including: * pistol is not prohibited; * semi-automatic, center fire rifles and shotguns short barrel over 470 mm; * rifles and shotguns can be fired, their total length has been reduced by folding, stretching or other means to less than 660 mm; and criminal law * firearms restrictions.

Fantastic thread of beautiful arms. Sorry to dredge up old posts but this struck me, the signature of FX from France.

"Being French doesn't mean I do not have a weapon and I hate the USA. I have many weapons and I love the USA."

FX, one of the most revered and cherished symbols of our country stands proudly in New York harbor to welcome visitors to our shores. La statue de la liberté was a gift to us from the French people. Were it not for the aid of France the United States of America wouldn't exist. The tyranny we keep and bear arms against, your countrymen have experienced. And with the help of God France has risen above it. With all the banter and joking between our nations, one thing remains firm. America are forever grateful to your countrymen.

It's Thanksgiving day here in the US, a day we all pause to give thanks for the blessings we enjoy. Thank you FX.

I hate to go into the legal aspect of things, but I was under the impression that Italians were forbidden from possessing firearms chambered in a 'military' cartridge. (Like 9x19)

Does this only apply to cartridges used by the Italian military? Or is there an exemption for 'antique' firearms.

The "ban" you're talking about only refers to firearms chambered in calibres currently used by the Italian military. Even then, civilian versions of those military calibres are allowed (e.g. 9x21 instead of 9x19). Once a calibre is dismissed from military use, it becomes available for civilians; if the military adopts a calibre which is already legal for civilians, it remains legal.

Couple of additions. The piece on the left:

Despite old age it shoots quite well, better than me. I do wonder from time to time, that older guns in general look more aesthetic (flowing lines, composition of curves) than nowadays. I sometimes think that it is because box-like shapes are easier to draw in CAD software than for example a slide of that HP (yes, I did that in Solidworks, a slide of a Glock is A LOT easier).

And another: it looks a bit unconventional, but I do like the look as-is. Still, the Aimpoint goes when the scope mount arrives.

I first went to Switzerland when I was 18 years old, and I think it was about mid way through my stay, while riding a boat around lake Luzern, that I came to the realization that the Swiss had found paradise up in their mountains.

I've been a lot of places since, and I have not changed my opinion.

Some of your Helveticans have some spectacular gun collections :D

Lots of really nice collections. It seems when you can't get Glocks and AR's in 700 tacticool flavors, you end up with simple, great looking guns.
?

I was in Switzerland in '89 and they had lots of attractive women.

Some 'schone Puppen' picked up hay with a pitchfork as I rode the train from Luzern to Interlaken.

Does the UK allow semis?

As Sam Cade said:. Semi-auto centrefire guns are banned except .22 rimfire. You can still own traditional semi-autos like AK47, AR15 etc but they must have the semi auto-function disabled and reconfigured to a straight-pull arrangement. This is where you have to manually pull back the bolt to eject and reload a shell from the mag.

I have relatives living around and in the Antwerp,Eisden part of Belguim and,I was seeing and wondering about ammunition that is used for handguns. Are they hollowpoints or ball ammo that has to be used in handguns????? Rich,Omaha,Ne. U.S.A.

Glad to see that people are still contributing to this thread, I'm always impressed by the all the fine guns owned by our foreign members.

Keep 'em coming and thanks for sharing!

Are there certain regulations in obtaining certain guns, ie: handguns, high caps, full autos, sbr's in Switzerland?

Also one the first page, anyone know the third rifle down in the first pic of Zen.45's post?
