Looks like you got one of the older nickle plated ones. They were pretty well built. I had a few and they all worked good. Not sure about the newer ones

If it doesn't have a transfer bar someone took it out. They all had them.Must have made another accommodation for firing

I'm taking it out to the range in a few minutes. I'll try to get some pictures behind the trigger after I'm done running around today and with any luck I'll have some nice looking targets to put up too.

Took the gun out and fired it until I broke it.... or so I thought. All shots were SA at 10 yards (48 total). I could have done better had it not been for the fact that I only had 30 minutes so I rushed and the ejector rod unthreaded from the extractor star between rounds 42 and 48. I had a brain fart at the time and forgot the threads were reversed until I got to the gunshop about 20 minutes later. The gun does shoot well though and it will be back out soon for a more complete test including .38 Special +P (no .357 loaded at the house) and double action.

Yep, that happens. The first time it happened to me, a friend and I were dry-firing the gun when the cylinder locked shut. I didn't know what was wrong, but there was a gun shop next door to the EMS station I was working at at the time. I stopped in (without the gun; I didn't bring it) and asked, and was told what was loose, and how to open the cylinder by using a small tool to push in the retaining nub in the shroud by the rod end.

Below are the targets I shot today with the M66. The left target (top in this picture) was shot single action at 10 yards (100 rounds). I knew the gun could do better than my previous attempt and I was determined to prove it. Forgive me for the oblong hole, some of my double action shots ruined this target a bit. The right target (bottom in picture) was fired at 7 yards double action (100 rounds). I'm not the greatest double action shooter which is why I went to 7 yards for this test. The double action on this gun almost locked it up on several occasions which caused the group to open up into the hideous mess you see below. Luckily I do most of my revolver shooting single action.

Almost forgot, I bought a box of .357 Mag 158gr to put through the M66. I remember now why I stopped loading those things! That was an unpleasant experience, but at least I got some brass out of the deal.
