Never seen it before, saw it as I was channel surfing.

The thing that caught my eye, title was "Jim Bowie original knife". Of course I had to watch!

Now, we all know Jim didn't make the knife, his brother Rezin made it for him. It became famous because Jim always had it with him.

Anyway, this guy brings it in to the show for them to look at. Here's where I wish someone would invent a human incinerator.

Apparently this moron became so mentally unstable over not knowing if he bought a real or fake. So he decided the only way to clear up his mental illness, was to cut up the knife!!!

The guys on the show looked like they wanted to incinerate this guy. I was thinking Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is wrong with this guy?

So they test the knife and it's old but not Bowie old. Then they tell him but wait, there's more...

Whoever made the knife used real ivory or stag that they carbon dated to be 45 thousand years old! The handle material was worth more than the knife!

Guys needs to be ran through a human incinerator! How can anyone be that stupid?! Oh yeah, he paid $4K for the knife. The guy from the show told him the handle material was worth about $15K!

Appropriate.

How does the idiot think he's going to tell anything by cutting up the blade?

Also, it wouldn't be "damascus" and the blade on this thing clearly was.

Also, how is he going to cut it up and then think that it has any value to a museum or his kids after he destroys it! Stunning. Irrational.

Mammoth ivory, perhaps.

When the "expert" says, "Jim Bowie's blade would have been silver..." I just gave up at the stupidity he added to the stupidity of the guy that intentionally destroyed "Jim Bowie's knife".

Yeah, he didn't need to cut it into 3 pieces to find out.

They said one source for the handle could've been mammoth ivory.

No one in the 1800 would use mammoth because elephant ivory was readily available.

You can see a little "bark" on the back side when the "expert" is turning it in his hands.

At 45,000 years old it is only mammoth ivory which wasn't used much until elephant ivory was banned in the US.

As to the handle material being worth $15 grand, ummm, nope. I was handling mammoth slabs of this size and quality at Blade Show that were priced at a fraction of that. You can too at https://www.fineturnage.com/shop/home.php?cat=288

Oh yeah, he paid $4K for the knife.

Mr. Chop Saw said he had it appraised at four grand, but earlier he said he paid $200. The only way it would appraise for $4k is if the maker's mark was on it.
