That is true, except they fail to mention that a Non-Immigrant Alien, such as a Valid Student Visa holder, only needs to acquire a Valid Hunting License and remain a Resident of a US State for 90 consecutive days in order to Purchase and Possess firearms legally. And yes, even though it requires a Hunting License, they can then buy all the Self Defense weaponry they want.

I have no idea if this applies in the VT shooting, but in general, simply because a person is in the US on a Student Visa does NOT mean that they cannot legally possess firearms. They do need to take that extra step though, of getting a Hunting License, to make it legal.

If I am not mistaken a hunting license still doesn't allow an non-resident alien to poses a handguns, long guns only.

That guy has pictures from way back... the killer got here last August.

Thats not him, end of story.

I’m mad as hell that these kids were forced to be without any means of protecting themselves.

I’m mad as hell that the educational system and the media have taught our children to be such good victims.

Don’t they teach history anymore??? Remember what happened to the Jews of Europe. First disarmed, and then slaughtered. Why are we creating these new age ghettos in our schools?

Considering that LEO has not released a name, etc. I don't see how you could know that it's not the guy... Unless you know it's not the guy. Do you?

Because he's a poster on another forum.

Oh yeah, and I hear that the guys name is Cho.

They're bashing 9mm handguns on CNN now. Calling them the most common "crime guns".
That sux. Pretty soon they'll make my 9mm illegal, and I'll be forced to get a .45 instead. :neener:

I had a lengthy discussion with a coworker today, which while we fundamentally disagree on a lot of subjects. We agree that by the time the media gets done with this story we will be sick of the story and sick of the news.

The media will drive it into the ground until we don't even see the victums as people. It will just be another news feed, another story....click next station.

Too bad they can't wait till all the facts are strait. And we wonder why in the past news like this wasn't released to the public immediatley. Won't try to say it would be better if it wasn't heald for a while until released, there's always two edges to a sword. Well most swords anyway... :)

From everything I'm hearing on "liberal" talk radio, really makes me nervous that what happened in "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" is very very close to happening... I'm outraged, and scared out of my mind all at the same time.

:uhoh: :barf:

You know, initially I posted that this would be the worst thing to happen to run rights in years and that it would help to make guns much more difficult to own and carry. However, it seems for now at least on the news I hear almost as much about how gun laws dont work as I hear about the need for more. I have even heard a few comments on talk radio that more guns are needed in schools and how a student with a gun could have saved the day.

I still dont think this will work out in favor of gun ownership, but this might have woken a few people up to the reality of the situation...I guess I will find out in the days to come.

Has the rumor that he lined people up execution style been confirmed? I saw a CBS interview with a student who was shot in the arm. The student said that the attacker went from class to class and shot randomly.

Female student on CNN said the same thing... he walked five feet into the room and just started shooting. Left. Came back 30 seconds later and started shooting again.

Nothing about lining people against the wall.

From what I've gathered, he simply went door to door and shot students. If you think about it, if he's standing in the only door and holding two guns, well, where are the students going to go?

The cowardice of that kind of murderer is overwhelmingly frustrating

RE: myspace guy

Coming out. I am not the shooter. Through this experience, I have received numerous death threats, slanderous accusations, and my phone is out of charge from the barrage of calls. Local police have been notified of the situation.

My original intention was to wait until I got AdSense on my site and donating all the proceeds to Charity. However, this situation has now spiraled out of control. I am now confirming that I am not the shooter. I will be available for interview by a news agency to clear my name, talk about the experience, and give my opinion on how the situation could have turned out better if other students were allowed to be armed. I will only speak with individuals who are interested in donating to charities resulting from today's events. Please e-mail all correspondence to [email protected]

Perhaps some good will come out of the unfortunate random MySpace guy's situation.

Geraldo is reporting on Fox News and talking about someone they found on facebook they got a tip is the shooter with lots of weapons. Sounds like he got the same guy that was mistakenly posted here a bit ago.

He also called guns WMDs.

You have GOT to be kidding me!!
Nope
Paraphrasing "When used like this these things are weapons of mass destruction. Forget Al Qaeda we have it all right here." And he went on to describe the guy on the facebook page as scarey/dangerous looking/etc.

I hope the guy on the facebook page sees the potential to "cash in" in typical American fashion and sues Geraldo.

Quote from Johnny Boy McCain:

"We have to look at what happened here, but it doesn't change my views on the Second Amendment, except to make sure that these kinds of weapons don't fall into the hands of bad people."

"these kinds" of weapons? How about ANY kinds of weapons from falling into a criminal's hands? And yes, this individual was likely a criminal before the shooting spree because if the guns were illegally purchased (and it looks that way, though I reserve the right to change my view once hard facts come out), so this shoulod prove that prohibiting folks from legitamately purchasing firearms is not the answer to these crimes.

Johhny Boy makes a good quote here:
"I do believe in the constitutional right that everyone has, in the Second Amendment to the Constitution, to carry a weapon," he said. "Obviously we have to keep guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens."

I like that. I hope he means it. I especially like his use of the word "carry."

I am appauled at the loss of life on this one.

I am also appauled at certain groups dancing in the blood of the victims to push a gun control agenda.

I will simply say this:

Virginia has pretty decent CCW laws (laws that allow carying a concealed weapon). However the shooter(s) chose to attack a 'gun free zone' - a school.

I am absolutely certain that had this event taken place in a Virginia Church, WalMart, Bar, or Grocery store that things would have been much different and the violence ended much more quickly thanks to armed civilian intervention.

It probably was not much of a challenge for this coward to take down a lot of unarmed people in a gun free zone.

Remember, whenever you hear the sheep bleating for a gun ban that basically the shooter was already in a place with a 100 percent gun ban.

Kinda like a handfull of airplanes a few years back...

Very strong words and quite gutsy of John McCain. My respect level for him just doubled and I've never been one of his fans.

No, as far as the Feds are concerned they can buy and own Handguns and Long Guns. Now, some States may have tighter rules, but those would be at the discretion of each State.
