I thought that would get you to look. :D I went to the range today with my SIL, his dad and brother. Three guys came while we were there and started shooting next to me. Got to talking to them and they asked me if I reload. Of course I said yes. They said they don't reload and asked me if I wanted all of their 223 brass. Great day at the range.

Awesome! I was lucky enough a few months back where somebody had shot up their gun show 7.62x39mm loads, and left all that lovely brass laying about. usually all I find is steel cases.
That's really cool.

Had that same deal two weeks ago. 500 free .223 cases. just got the Hornady Spire points I plan to reload them with on friday.... Love those days......:D

Used to be the day that I would go to the local public range on Monday mornings and pick brass up by the bucket full. Now a couple of guys hang out all weekend picking it up to resale.

At my club range not too long ago one of people that practically live there on the club website asked who want .308 commercial brass and I got several coffee cans full of it. At one time I was a pure 30-06 person, but somehow I now have more .308 rifles and that tend to shoot. So the brass will come in handy when I retire in a couple of years that I plan to do when I am 70.

That is the "F" word that I like.:D I too am a brass nut. I find that I look on Google Earth along my planned trips to see if I can find any pits that someone may be using as a range and budget time for exploring them when I go. I consider myself lucky and often find loads of brass that has been left behind.:) I used to spend my time scouring the net for used brass and now I am even able to sell/trade some of my surplus here and there. I am glad some do not bother to reload so that I can, utilizing their free brass as well. IMHO being extra frugal in times that are tough/lean is a survival tactic that is genius. It is amazing what a 2 gallon bucket of used primers will net you at the recyclers. That is something that I always just tossed into the trash for many years. Yes FREE = maximum profit.

I'm a brass rat too. Since the first of the year I have traded range pickup brass for more than 1200 rifle bullets and a few dozen 45-70 brass. Sold enough to pay my range fees and buy about 20 pounds of powder and a few thousand primers. I reform 223 and 30-06 to other rifle cartridges I shoot from range pickup as well. I may never purchase another piece of brass in my lifetime.

The problems with me belonging to a private range, is almost everyone is a reloader, hence no free brass. Sad face. Last week I went and thought I saw some gold i.e. brass in the pistol bays, but there was another brass rodent about 5 minutes ahead of me, and I watched put a bunch of piles of brass in his vehicle and take off....

Happened to me yesterday. Son and I were at range doing a little practice and two other guys showed up to shoot. They got through and left. I looked over there and they left all their 9mm and 40 S&W brass on the ground. I couldn't leave all that mess laying around so we picked it up and took it all home. I find brass every time I go to the range. I reload so it never stays on the ground very long. I don't load .223 but from the sound of things they probably left plenty of that on the rifle range.

happy, not happy, ok happy

My buddy and I got out to scrounge some brass at a quarry; he went in shallow for the near-sighted shooters, I went deep for the far-sighted....

I found 3 nickle .40 S&W cases and he found a five dollar bill.

I dono who got the better find these days..

The next stop, we found a nice pile but they were all .40 S&W. I don't load them yet but will start soon enough.

I never find X39 in brass.

Last weekend at the range, 4 shooters next to me were all shooting AR15s, and not a one of them reloads.

Once they left, I picked up the several hundred pieces of brass they left behind.

I love shooting next to people like that :)

Oh did I forget to tell you that they even picked it all up and put it in my bucket for me. :D

Now THAT beats mypost.
I shoot 9mm pistol and prefer WIN cases. I saw a guy two tables down empty a 9mm Win Value Pak and asked if I could have his brass as he was leaving. He said sure. I started picking them up and another gentleman came up and said he heard my request and his group had just shot over 100 rds of Win 9mm ammo, and I was welcome to them.

THAT was a very good day for me, but they didn't offer to pick it up for me.:D

I take all once-fired factory brass when shooters leave it. Last trip I took home 25 once-fired .300 Win Mag brass and I don't even have a .300 Win Mag...yet.

FH

Was at the range last week & a guy that I know stopped & fired off a box of 9mm & then left.

I found 50 free 9mm brass that I know for a fact is once-fired. :D

Not sure if this counts for free or not

Couple .50 cal ammo cans and a bucket full of .308 and some primers (he didn't say how many, but he described a 100 pack) were thrown in with the 800 rnds of 168 gr match kings for 120 :)

I paid for the match kings.. the rest comes free :)
