I guess I'm odd, old too. I much prefer the front serrations, & use 'em all the time. It's the ones on the back of the slide that are useless for me, never touch 'em. And when I grasp the front serrations, my hand is never in front of the muzzle. All my 5" 1911's have 'em, & I wish the 4" guns did, too! And, I've never felt he need to "press-check" any 1911, BTW.
