Does anyone know how these things work in NJ? I have never bought a handgun privately in NJ so I don't know what the law says about it. Any advice would be appreciated.
The buyer must have a valid Permit To Purchase a Handgun, (a 4 part carbon thing) which must be filled out by the seller and filed with the agencies listed on the permit. Check the issue date carefully, PPH's expire in 90 days.
Long Gun:
The buyer must exhibit his FID and fill out a "certificate of eligibility", which is retained by the seller.
