Fun Hand Cannon Day: 500S&W Magnum: 460S&W Magnum and Beautiful BFR

“The 460 is not for the faint of heart. It is a very powerful cartridge and while recoil is generally tolerable in the fairly heavy X-frame revolver, muzzleblast from this cartridge is nothing less than intimidating the tirst time one pulls the trigger.”… Hornady Manual
A 460 is on my shortlist.

I'll agree, my 460XVR is accurate and easy to handle once you learn the basics.

I have a heavy 45 Clot load loaded in a 460 Mag case that allows one to practice with the revolver without the major recoil. Then when switching to the full power loads, some of the basics are learned on the shooter can concentrate on controlling the full power loads.

My 460XVR is an 8-3/8" model and I'm sure it is easier to control than a 4" or 5" version.
4“ .460 with a warm load is like holding Bull Dog and squeezing it belly!

Got the short barrel! it’s FUN!

it’s not, at all! like a .44 mag x3. but the compensator keeps it from busting your forehead.

who am I kidding, it’s nice a holding a Big Snake with Rabies
I love a big boomer, had a ton of fun with 50ae and 454, but 460 belongs in a longer tube than 6", let alone 4". It's just ridiculous!

Edit to add: and I want one! Just not a 4"...
